Missionary Work
"Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15
Missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints purpose is to share the gospel with people all over the world. All soon-to-be missionaries turn in an application to Church headquarters and receive a call to a specific location around the world. Missionaries are often asked to learn the native language of the place they are called. Missionaries willingly pay for their service for a period of 18-24 months, leaving behind school, work, dating and many other things to focus completely on teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Missionaries are only allotted to communicate with family and friends once a week through e-mail, and twice a year through Skype.
A common day for a missionary includes studying the scriptures, both the King James version of the Bible, and The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. They also spend a great portion of their day meeting people to share the gospel with, volunteering within the community, teaching gospel lessons and sometimes attending baptismal services.
