A frequently asked question about Mormons is, "Are Mormons Christian?" YES. The more official name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe that this is the church of Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ came to earth, He organized His church so that all people could return to live with God, our Heavenly Father again through His gospel.
After Jesus Christ was resurrected, His Apostles continued to receive revelation from Him through the Holy Ghost on how to continue the work of His church. After the Apostles were killed, however, the teachings of the church were changed from what Jesus Christ had established. This caused the withdrawal of Jesus Christ's church from the earth, a period also known as the Apostasy.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1820. He, with revelation from our Heavenly Father, translated another form of scripture called The Book of Mormon. We believe The Book of Mormon to be the most true book on the earth, and the keystone to our religion.
We believe in latter-day prophets who receive revelation from our Father in Heaven, and are qualified to give direction to the members of the church. We believe that if you follow God's commandments, you will find true, lasting happiness and will be able to live in the presence of God once again. This is made possible through our Savior, Jesus Christ, and His atonement.
